Selection Process:
1. Written exam
2. Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT)
3. Medical Examination
Marks obtained in written exam will be normalized to determine final merit and cut-off marks.
SSC Constable Exam Pattern: The written examination will consist of one objective type paper containing 100 questions carrying 100 marks, with the following composition:

Each question will be of 1 mark and 0.25 marks are to be deducted if wrong answer is given. Exam language will be English and Hindi only.

SSC Constable Syllabus and Exam pattern
The syllabus for SSC Constable GD written examination is given below:
A. General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns will be tested through questions principally of non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, etc.

B. General Knowledge and General Awareness: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him. Questions on Current affairs, India and its neighbouring countries i.e. sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc. 

C. Elementary Mathematics: Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

D. English/ Hindi: Candidates’ ability to understand basic English/ Hindi and his basic comprehension would be teste

The questions in all the above components are of objective type and of Matriculation level.
