RPF SI Syllabus Exam Pattern Physical Test Details

RPF SI Syllabus Exam Pattern: Railway Protection Force (RPF) had advertised for 1120 Sub Inspector (SI) posts through its advt no. 02/2018. Lakhs of candidates are likely to apply for these posts. The selection of eligible candidates is to be done through CBT, Physical test & DV. First Written exam is to be held. The questions in this test are to be asked from the syllabus declared by RPF in its notification. Recruitment Selection process:
  • Computer Based Test (CBT),
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  • Document Verification (DV).

10 times the no. of vacancies in the zone, written exam qualified candidates will be called to appear for Physical tests (PET & PMT).

Minimum Qualifying marks in CBT: 

  • 35% marks for General & OBC category.
  • 30 % marks by SC and ST candidates)

RPF SI Exam Pattern:

The written will have 120 objective type questions to be answered in Total Duration of 90 minutes. Each question is of one mark. There will be negative marking of 1/3. For each incorrect answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted. However for an unattempted question, no marks will be awarded.

  • Total Questions: 120 (General Awareness: 50, Arithmatic: 35, General Intelligence & Reasoning: 35)
  • Total Marks: 120 (each question is of 1 mark)
  • Time: 90 minutes
  • Negative marking: 1/3 of each wrong answer is to be deducted.

Section-wise distribution of marks is as follows:
1. General Awareness (50 marks)
2. Arithmetic (35 marks)
3. General Intelligence & reasoning (35 marks)

Candidates can opt for any one of the following languages.
(1) Hindi (2) English (3) Urdu (4) Tamil (5) Telugu (6) Konkani (7) Malayalam (8) Kannada (9) Marathi (10) Gujurati (11) Bengali (12) Odia (13) Assamese (14) Manipuri and (15) Punjabi.

RPF SI Syllabus 2018

The standard of questions in the examination will be of graduation level.
a. General Awareness: Questions are asked from general awareness of environment and its application to society; current events and such matters of everyday observations and experiences as may be expected of any educated person. Questions also includes Indian History, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, General Science etc.

b. Arithmetic: The test will have questions on Number systems, whole numbers, decimal and fractions and relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, Simple & Compound interest, profit and loss problems, discount, table and graphs use, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and proportion etc.

c. General Intelligence & reasoning: Questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding / decoding, statement and conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.
