The IAS officer have to serve on the following pay scales during their service.
1. Junior scale Pay Scale: 15,600-39,100, Grade Pay: 5400
Starting basic pay: Rs. 56100
As new IAS Recruit, the candidate has to serve two years as probationary officer.

2. Senior Scale:  
(a) After experience of 5 years in service, Pay Scale: 15,600-39,100, Grade Pay: 6600
 (b) Senior Scale:  after 9 years in service, Pay Scale: 15,600-39,100, Grade Pay: 7600
(c) Selection grade - after 12-18 years in service, Pay Scale:  INR 37,400 – 67,000, Grade Pay: 8700
3. Super time scale - around 20 years in service,  Pay Scale: INR 37,400 – 67,000, Grade Pay: 10000
4. Above Super time scale: After 20 years in service,  Pay Scale: INR 37,400 – 67,000, Grade Pay: 12000.

What is the Maximum salary of an IAS Officer?
Approx. 2.25-2.5 lakhs. 
Note: The basic pay of an IAS Officer usually increases at the rate of 3% every year. Dearness Allowance (DA) increases at the rate decided by the govt.
